Earth Day 2005 at the Harvard Longwood Campus
On Friday, April 22 2005 the Harvard Longwood Medical campus celebrated Earth Day with a panel presentation on: "The Harvard Principles of Sustainability: Human Health and the Environment". Harvard Gazette
Over 100 students, staff, faculty from Harvard, and from other local companies, non-profits, and government, attended the presentation held at the Harvard School of Public Health, Kresge Building from 12:00 - 2:00 pm.
The event highlighted the Harvard University Sustainability Principles for campus planning, operations and maintenance issued by President Lawrence H. Summers last fall, and some of the recent greening efforts on the Longwood and Cambridge campuses. The panelists examine the links between human health and the environment, and the important role that renewable energy sources and green building will play in the move toward a more sustainable future at Harvard and beyond.
