EMISSIONS BY UTILITY TYPE

In 2007, almost half of the Cambridge/Allston campus's GHG emissions were due to the consumption of electricity. The Blackstone Steam Plant was the second largest source of emissions, at 34% of the total. Natural gas burned in building-scale boilers was the third largest contributor at 9%. The chilled water plant (4%), #2 and #4 oil (3%), the Harvard fleet (1%), and refrigerant micro releases (1%) made up the remaining emissions.
