Laboratory Resources

Labs21 Partner logoThe Harvard Green Campus Initiative is a Labs 21 Partner. Labs 21 is a program developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the US Department of Energy. The goal of the Labs 21 Partnership program is to: "encourage the development of sustainable, high-performance, and low-energy laboratories nationwide."

The Labs21 Environmental Performance Criteria (EPC) is a rating system specifically designed for laboratory facilities. It builds on the U.S. Green Building Council's LEEDT Green Building Rating System.

The University of California's Policy on Green Building Design and Clean Energy Standards: The University of California is requiring that all new laboratory buildings are built to LEED "certified" rating, and that they also use the Labs 21 Environmental Performance Criteria (EPC) as a design tool: http://www.ucop.edu/facil/greenbldgs/UC_green_clean.pdf

See their implementation guide.
