Reusable Shipping Containers Pilot with Office Max!

As part of OfficeMax's commitment to the environment, beginning on January 4th, portions of orders will be shipped in a reusable shipping container in place of a cardboard box. This initiative is being piloted by OfficeMax at Harvard University with support from the Harvard Strategic Procurement Office and endorsement by the Harvard Green Campus Initiative.

This white shipping container resembles a cardboard box in many ways, including size and collapsible design. However there are some unique differences. Most importantly, this shipping container can be used many times over again for your office supply order. Currently, cardboard boxes are used only once then sent to be recycled. By returning this container to OfficeMax, we will reduce our need for cardboard boxes. The life cycle of a reusable shipping container is up to 500 times greater than a single use cardboard box.

To make this program successful OfficeMax needs to have all reusable shipping containers returned for redeployment. Please leave your shipping container in the same place that you receive OfficeMax orders. Our delivery team will pick up the shipping container when they deliver your next order. If you have a co-worker placing an order before your next order, feel free to leave the shipping container with them. If you receive deliveries in a central receiving department or mailroom, please have the shipping container brought back to that location. If your building has a central location that may be ideal as a future collection point, please let us know so we can review it.

Thank you for your support of this new green initiative. A successful pilot will allow us to expand the program to additional container sizes and other OfficeMax Customer Fulfillment Centers nationwide. If you have any questions about the program contact your account manager or Jason Gill at 617-395-8085 or JasonGill@OfficeMax.com.
