New LEED certified buildings at Harvard

Four buildings recently achieved LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC): Aldrich Hall, Wyss Hall, and Hamilton Hall at the Harvard Business School, and 5 Cowperthwaite Street in Cambridge.

Wyss Hall and Hamilton Hall achieved a LEED Gold rating, and Aldrich Hall, a LEED Silver rating. All three buildings, which completed their renovations in the summer of 2006, feature various sustainable technologies such as state-of-the-art water saving fixtures, ventilation systems based on demand, and low VOC paints and materials.

Five Cowperthwaite, a graduate residence hall near the riverside, achieved a LEED Gold rating in January. Among its green accomplishments is a 28% reduction in energy use from code, a storm water collection system for irrigation, and an impressive 32% of all materials used in the project contain recycled content.
