Position Summary

The Harvard Green Campus Initiative provides building design teams throughout Harvard University with a range of advanced services to ensure cost effective green building design and LEED certification. The Harvard Green Campus Initiative (HGCI) is seeking a full time (40 hours per week), term position: Coordinator, Green Campus Building Service - New Construction. There will be large learning component associated with this position to gain full proficiency and fluency in these tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to the Program Manager, HGCI Green Campus Building Service (New Construction).
  • Coordinates all tasks involved in delivering a range of design and construction consulting services to project teams and clients throughout Harvard University for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Provides ongoing support managing LEED certification process.
  • Provides ongoing support completing and reviewing project LEED submittals.
  • Participates in project meetings and effectively works with teams to ensure understanding and accountability relating to sustainable building goals.
  • Reviews projects to ensure the Harvard Green Building Guidelines are being met and assists project teams with this effort.
  • Documents lessons learned and provides content for the online Harvard Green Building Resource: www.greencampus.harvard.edu/theresource
  • Participates as a member of the overall HGCI team, generally contributing to the well being of the organization.

Requirements

  • Qualified applicants will hold a related undergraduate and/or graduate degree, such as in architecture and/or mechanical or electrical engineering and/or construction management; Knowledge of the US Green Building Council LEED Rating System and sustainable design and construction principles is essential, LEED AP preferred.
  • Professional experience with high performance building design, construction administration, specification writing, and construction documents preferred, as is familiarity with a broad range of sustainable technologies.
  • Demonstrated interest through course work or professional experience in sustainability and/or addressing the ecological impacts of building design and construction essential.
  • Qualified applicants must have excellent team skills; must be able to understand and synthesize the thoughts of others, must be able to work in a fast-paced, continually adapting work environment, must have good attention to detail; must be experienced with computer based work and must be very fast learners.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the capacity for developing and maintaining strong client relationships across a highly decentralized university management structure.

Technology Skills Required

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and the ability to learn software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project Manager, HydroCAD, and eQUEST as needed.
