Community Garden at Kennedy School

HKS has gotten a little greener this spring with the addition of the new HKS Community Garden on the Malkin Penthouse balcony. The idea for the garden came from a group of students in a food & policy group led by Zara Snapp. They teamed up with some HKS Green Team members who had gardening expertise, and the garden came to life in a matter of weeks.

The urban garden was planted in existing planters on the patio. Green Team members Kate Hoagland, Joanna Hamilton, and Katie Naeve have found a group of volunteer staff members who will water the garden throughout the summer while the students are away.

“We hope that the HKS community will utilize the new garden initiative both as a great place to enjoy the beauty of the garden and as a way to come together to enhance the Kennedy School’s existing green space capacity,” said Katie Naeve, a program manager who helped make the garden a reality.

Stop by the garden next time you are in the area to see what’s growing–the Malkin Penthouse is on the 4th floor of Littauer.
